Free Outdoor Circuit Workout!

Living in Southern California I’m fortunate enough to have beautiful weather most of the year (except June when it is extremely overcast and gloomy along the coast). This gives me the opportunity to train clients outdoors at a beautiful park overlooking the ocean. Most days I’ll train clients, and myself, at Palisades Park in Santa Monica, but some days I cruise up PCH and hit up a small quite park in Malibu when I want some one-on-one time with Natalie. 

We'll head to Malibu Bluffs Park and like the name suggests it sits on the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The view is absolutely incredible. I usually take Natalie during off days and hours so hardly anyone is there which is great, because it gives me the opportunity to take her out of the stroller and let her do tummy time without being worried about dogs or people throwing soccer balls or baseballs around her. Bonus is I get to workout near the playground and use it as my gym. 

Yesterday I did a full body circuit, using a mix of dumbbells, resistance bands, and a jump rope, and utilized the park’s benches and playground equipment to workout. The entire circuit took me about an hour to complete mostly because I had to stop to entertain Natalie. 

THE WORKOUT 

Complete 2-3 rounds of each circuit.

Tip: Set up the stations prior to the workout so you can move quickly between each exercise.

Jump Rope 5 minutes

Circuit 1 

Jump Rope x 2 mins 

Cross-Body Tricep Extension x 10 each arm (Resistance Band)

Step-Ups on Bench x 10 per leg (15lb. DBs)

Plank x 1 min

Circuit 2 

Jump Rope x 2 mins 

Cable Row x 15 (Resistance Band) 

Straight-Leg Deadlift to Upright Row x 15 (12lb. DBs)

Mountain Climbers x 25

Circuit 3 

Jump Rope x 2 mins 

Hammer Curls x 15 x (8lb DB’s)

Pallof Press x 12 (Resistance Band)

Elevated Glute Bridge w/ Chest Press x 15 (15lb. DB’s)

---

Finisher 

Jump Rope 5 minutes
